Volaris Group Supports Mental Health with Donation to CRUSH COVID: Ride for the Mind

We are officially marking the one-year anniversary of the declaration of the COVID-19 global pandemic. This year has strained families, companies, communities and countries in ways we could never have anticipated.

We have all experienced the past year differently and for some vulnerable populations it has been extremely difficult. This is especially true in the area of mental health, where programs have had to adapt to keep participants safe, as demand continues to swell.

This was the motivation behind CRUSH COVID: Ride for Mind, a 24-hour virtual ride starting to support our community through the COVID-19 pandemic mental health crisis.

Mark Miller, Volaris CEO, joined the ride for eight hours, riding 244 kilometers. Volaris proudly donated to the cause.

“The community that I have built through biking and physical fitness has been critical to me this year,” said Miller. “Being able to join together for a virtual event while also raising much-needed funds to support our community was a natural way for me to mark the one-year anniversary of the pandemic. If we can use this moment to get resources to those in need, I’m ready to pedal.”

The 58 teams participating in CRUSH COVID: Ride for Mind raised more the $400,000 for the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation. The resources will support building facilities and programs for community mental health, including the Transitional Youth Program that empowers young people ages 16-29 experiencing barriers to accessing services in the mental health sector.
